Andoni Beristain
Photographer Andoni Beristain shares his time between San Sebastian and Barcelona. His Basque roots are fundamental to understanding and appreciating his aesthetic. From an early age on, he has been fascinated by shapes and colors, observing the world to see where he would fit, or not fit in.
In his work, Andoni combines large-scale outdoor still-lifes and carefully curated studio work to narrate and digest his observations on life-altering events, politics, and other concerns and issues crossing his path.
Although inspired by serious topics, his personal outlook on life, and as demonstrated in his work, is colorful, bold, and optimistic. An only child, Andoni’s Pieza Madre (Mother Piece) series is about unconditional love, loss, and death, and pays homage to his beloved mother whose recent passing affected him deeply.
Andoni’s visual stories are about finding a connection with the viewer and have them wonder, anticipate, contemplate, and appreciate all the good things we take for granted.
